Obituary for Jean G. Nappier

Longtime Alaskan and Soldotna resident, Ms. Jeanette “Jean” Gallion Nappier, 89, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at The Soldotna Baptist Church, 299 East Redoubt Ave. in Soldotna. Pastor John Craven will be officiating. A reception will follow at the Soldotna Senior Center in Soldotna. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Joe at The Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof privately.

Ms. Nappier was born November 9, 1928 in Sipe Springs, Texas. She graduated high school and furthered her education receiving her bachelors degree as a Registered Nurse. She was a nurse at Central Peninsula Hospital for many years, a night nurse at Heritage Place, and later in life was a care coordinator at The Nikiski Senior Center. She was a member of the Kenai Baptist Church, helped to establish the Judith Group, which later became the W.R.C.C. and helped fundraise for the new Nikiski Senior Center. Jean loved to read and loved to quilt.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Nappier; brothers, Larry and David Gallion; daughter, Rebecca Nappier; son, Joe “Steve” Nappier and sister, Esther Gorham.

She is survived by her son, Mike Nappier of Nikiski; daughters, Cindy (Tom) Newby of Soldotna and Kathleen Roland of Mechanicville, MD; sister, Mary Childs; brother, Douglas Gallion; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
