Obituary for William Henry Oyler

William H. (Bill) Oyler, 68, passed away peacefully in his home along the Kenai River in Soldotna, AK on November 29th, 2017. A faithful husband, father, and follower of Christ, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bill was born November 3, 1949 to Enos and Bette Oyler of Manhattan, MT. He attended school in Manhattan, where he met his devoted wife of 46 years, Judy Kuipers. Upon graduation, Bill enrolled at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT and eventually transferred to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. After graduating from Palmer in October of 1973, he returned to the Gallatin Valley where he opened his private chiropractic clinic. In 1992, after selling his practice, he joined his longtime friend and hunting partner, John Cada, at Jd’s Sprinklers. Bill was an avid outdoorsman; he loved big game hunting, both with rifle and bow, as well as bird hunting with his dogs. Upon retirement, he moved to Alaska where he traded in hunting for fishing. He often spent time on the dock at his lodge hooking salmon or halibut fishing with many of his dear friends.

He is survived by his wife Judy Oyler, of Soldotna, AK, daughter Tanya (Darren) Young of Spokane, WA, son Ross Oyler of Bridger, MT, son Travis (Jennifer) Oyler of Lincoln, NE, brother Truitt (Judy) Oyler of Sterling, CO, sister Bette Gail (Jeff) Wulf of Clancy, MT, and grandchildren Madilyn, Alexander, Jesse, and Gracilyn Young, Serena Oyler, and McKenzie, Morgan, and Paris Oyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enos and Bette Oyler, brother Walter Oyler, and granddaughter Alyssa Oyler.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Oyler’s lodge, in Soldotna, AK on Thursday, December 7th from 5-9 pm.

A memorial service will be held on December 16, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Dry Creek Bible Church, 8465 Dry Creek Rd., Belgrade, MT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alyssa Oyler Memorial Scholarship, PO Box 666, Bridger, MT 59014 or Manhattan School Foundation, PO Box 425 Manhattan, Mt. 59741.
